Open the Book and PPI Programs – Kericho County

The Bible Society of Kenya has successfully evaluated the Open the Book (OTB) and Program for Pastoral Instruction (PPI) programs in Kericho County.

The meeting was attended by 24 participants from eight schools and churches in the region that run the programs.

The feedback we received showed that students are actively involved, and teachers and parents are involved in the spiritual development of children. Approaching the children in their individual classes, rather than gathering (assembly), contributed to a better understanding and assimilation of the word of God in the lives of children.

Teachers have noticed that telling Bible stories through OTB is interesting and interactive, and children can easily absorb and apply God’s word. These two programs have contributed greatly to the development of character, so the incidence of indiscipline is minimal. In addition, more children go to church than ever before, and their participation in dramatizing Bible stories has increased their self-confidence and self-esteem and developed their talents.

Their teachers were focused on the upcoming OTB school competition in July 2023 so that they could start preparing children for the competition. We thank God for the children we continue to reach through His word.
