Spreading the Good News in Samburu

The BSK team conducted a successful mission in Maralal, Samburu County in April 2023, reaching out to various groups of people through the Word.
On the first day, the Society empowered and equipped church leaders in Maralal on evangelism, discipleship, and church planting through the Faith Comes by Hearing program, which helps people consistently listen to the word of God through audio and visual texts of Scripture.
On the second day, the BSK team presented the injury management program to Compassion’s international field workers working in Samburu and Isiolo counties. The participants thanked BSK for reminding them that God heals their wounds. During the sharing and interaction sessions, participants had the opportunity to share their stories and find encouragement in the Word of God.
On the third day, the team visited some of the church leaders who serve in different parts of Maralal and told them about the BSK programs and how they can get involved.
In addition, the film “Jesus” was shown to more than 500 residents of the city of Maralal. The high attendance of people watching the film demonstrated their hunger and thirst for God. More than 100 people have given their lives to Christ, and we thank God for the privilege of sharing His word in the languages people understand best.
The teens and young people were not left behind as we taught them the Shikika program on the fourth day. The Sikika program is designed to empower young people to speak up on issues that affect them, build self-awareness, resilience, and capture young people’s mindsets so they can face life’s challenges with confidence based on the Word of God. We had a fruitful open session with young people who shared their concerns and hopes for the future. We urged them not to give up, but to trust God and always look for mentors who can walk with them along the path of life.
The high point of the week was Day 5, when we had a Day of Joy at the Bible Eagles Kids Club. This program aims to help children under the age of 18 grow in the knowledge and fear of God. The event brought together more than 400 children from different parts of Maralal and its environs to have fun learning God’s word. Activities for the day included preaching the word of God by Reverend Dedan Kamau, dramatization of the scriptures by Open the Book volunteers who dramatized three Bible stories, mentorship sessions, various outdoor games such as sack racing, blindfolding, and racing. All children received a portion of John from BSK and they appreciated the opportunity to learn, socialize and make new friends.
This mission is made possible by our partnership with Compassion International. We thank God for the lives that have been impacted by God’s word in Samburu County and for the team for their dedication to the mission.
